What's in a name?

I get a lot of questions about what Sasima means and why I choose to use it as my business name so I wanted to share the back story.

Choosing a name for your business is a big deal! Sometimes you can come up with the perfect name as soon as your business idea pops into your mind, and sometimes it takes awhile. Lists of possibilities, checking web address availability, business registries and getting feedback from your peeps. I wanted something easy to pronounce in English and Norwegian and I also didn't want to have anything too birthy so I would be able to easily evolve and adapt to any possible future plans I may have. Don't get me wrong, I looooove birthy business names! But most of the ones I felt could work for me were either taken or just didn't make my heart really sing.

I had three children at the time and started playing around with their names as they were the reason I became a doula and soon after Sasima was born. From then youngest to oldest Savea, Sienna and Matias = Sasima.

All the ingredients of my motherhood journey, wrapped up in a name: patience, perseverance, kindness, responsibility, creativity, tenderness, strength and power. I loved it then and I love it now! I know it says nothing about what I do, hence the tagline, but it speaks to me, and I hope it will be a little more meaningful to you as well.
